Marie A. Vallone 89, born February 12, 1924, of Vestal passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Vallone; her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Jon Reiser, her sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Morris Nemia; her brother, Dante Puglisi; her sister, Lillian Puglisi; and her parents, Gesuele and Angeline Puglisi.Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gesele and Stephen Koehler of Jamestown, NY; her “third daughter,” Denise Battaglia; grandson, Gregory Koehler and wife, Sarah of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughter, Elizabeth Overberg and husband, Adam of Rome, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary Fiacco of Binghamton and Katherine Vallone of Palo Alto, CA; nieces and nephews, Nancy and Roger Brooks, Donna and Bill Bryan, Ross Vallone, Angie Donovan, Elizabeth and Allen Pattengill, Paul Fiacco, Jim and Cindy Rotella,Anthony and Marilou Vallone , Catherine Centamore, Maria and Hank Dellos, Buster and Danita Fiacco, Bob Vallone and Sabrina Lin, James and Margot Vallone,Anne and Charlie Jameson, and many wonderful great-nieces and nephews who were dearly loved. Marie graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Binghamton. She worked for over ten years at ANSCO until her marriage to Frank. She then devoted herself to her roles of homemaker, wife and mother. She often donated her time to various school or church events and in later years devoted herself to caring for her daughter, Theresa. Marie was a fantastic cook and the best wife and mother anyone could have. She was all about the love for her family and her faith.She was devoted to Our Lady and the Rosary. She also loved to read and always had a kind word for others. She never sought a lot of attention but was content to lead a quiet life, especially in her later years with her beloved cat, Molly. After years of struggling with kidney disease, dialysis and hospital stays, Marie is now able to enjoy her well-deserved rest in peace. Special thanks go out to Marie’s home health aides who were devoted in their care and helped to provide a quality life for her. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal at 10 am.Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm.Donations may be made in Marie’s memory to Danielle House, 160 Riverside Drive, Binghamton 13905.
