The angels have taken Marilyn (Walker) Gunther, age 90, of Endicott who passed away on April 13, 2024, at Willow Point Nursing Home after a long struggle with dementia.
The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Point especially nurses Jess and Bianca and aide Chelsea.
She was predeceased by her parents, Celia (Sherwood) Teed and Harry M. Walker; grandparents, Sara (Reynolds) Sherwood and Charles R. Sherwood; husband, Luther Gunther, Jr. and stepson Richard Gunther.
Marilyn is survived by her brother, Raymond Teed (Maryanne) of Virginia; children, Michael R. Lewis (Diane) of Endwell, Michele Steiner of Johnson City, and Denise Gunther of Binghamton; stepdaughter, Debra Wasicki (James) of Elmira. She has 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Marilyn retired from Endicott Johnson and IBM Endicott and went back to work for the American Board Company.
She was a hard worker and took great care in keeping her home in tip top shape. She did make time for her group of girlfriends who went to lunch and functions on a regular basis. She loved the outdoors and picking seasonal fruit. The love of animals became apparent as she grew up on her grandparents’ farm in Nichols, NY. She was active in her neighborhood watch program and helping with National Night Out, also enjoyed the ride along with the local police department.
Funeral Services for Marilyn will be held on Monday, April 22 at 11 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends on Monday at the Allen Memorial Home from 10 am until Service time at 11 am. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott.
