Marvin Cohen

Marvin A. Cohen,91, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Cay. He is survived by his daughters Lauren (and her husband, Todd) Olson and Dina Cohen, as well as a grandson Alex( and his wife, Tatiana) Bufi. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Marvin served for four years in the US Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked for the NYC School System for twenty-seven years as a teacher and Guidance Counselor. He was later on, an adjunct instructor in Education and Psychology at Mercy College, College of New Rochelle and Elmira College. Marvin was a radio and cable TV host, including seven years locally at WINR. Marvin was the author of seven books; two of them are at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, where he was a guest speaker. He was an Executive Director of a non-profit organization in Westchester County, an Executive Recruiter and the creator and presenter of a series of Sales Workshops for Broome Community College for four years. Marvin was awarded a pin for the many lectures he delivered for the local Lyceum. Marvin loved sports and he was a co-author of both Baseball and Hockey in Broome County. The books and talks owed a great deal to his wonderfully capable wife, Cay, who died in 2018. He wrote a play, “Why Not Marlowe?” which was produced and performed for four shows in Binghamton. Marvin enjoyed bowling with the gang at Midway Lanes who will probably remember him more for his jokes than his bowling. The local feral cats, and his own, will surely miss his care and feeding. Hopefully they will find new caregivers. He was upbeat, smart, quick-witted and the best husband and father ever. He will be forever missed.
Funeral Services for Marvin will be held Saturday, January 27 at 10:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery, Vestal. The family will receive friends Saturday at the Allen Memorial Home from 9:30 am until Service time at 10:30 am.
