Mary Christine Bonczek

Mary Christine Bonczek (nee McAndrew), 86, entered her eternal rest on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Christine was born in Scranton (Providence), PA on September 15, 1935. She graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School in Scranton, and later met her husband, Richard Bonczek. They married and raised a family in Vestal, NY. Christine was predeceased in death by her husband, Richard, and their infant daughter, Polly Ann Bonczek. She is survived by her loving family. She was the beloved mother of Alison and Rick Frisbie, Rick Bonczek, Christine Bonczek and Monica Price, and David and Monica Bonczek. The cherished grandmother of Holly and Ryan Subers, Katie and Matt Simek, Jonathan and Johanna Frisbie, Jesse and Kylee Frisbie, Michael and Heather Frisbie, Christopher Price, Olivia Price, Jake Bonczek and Molly Bonczek. Loving “Great Bonczek” to 10 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Christine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her large extended family. After donning her lipstick for the day, she embraced her role of family matriarch from her comfortable living room “office” chair, encouraging a phone call to remember a special birthday or milestone in the family. Christine’s greatest joy in life was making sure her loved ones felt special and cared for. She never missed a moment to tell them how loved they were. Christine’s message to her family and friends is to love one another and keep each other close.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows, 801 Main St, Vestal with entombment at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at church from 9:30 AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Donations in Christine’s memory can be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier or GiGi’s Playhouse, Southern Tier.
