Mary (Antony) Bucek, 91, of Endwell, joined her husband, Albert, and her son, Lawrence, in Eternal Rest on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. She leaves her beloved family son, Richard of Endwell; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Krassin and precious grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Krassin of Owego, NY; a forever daughter-in-law, Nancy (Bucek) Miller of Gardners, PA. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law Ethel Butler and Elizabeth Antoni of Endwell; Frances Buchek of Ozark, MO; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. To know Mary was to love her. Her warm and welcoming personality made her very likeable to all who knew her. Mary was a strong woman both mentally and physically and was proud of her advancing age. Her strong religious faith made her feel that God had a reason for keeping her on this earth for as long as He did. Mary enjoyed praying, reading, doing crossword and logic puzzles, crocheting, knitting, needlework, sewing, and cooking and baking traditional Slovak recipes. Her greatest pleasure later in life was her two grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her grandchildren brought joy back into Mary’s life after she experienced profound grief with the sudden loss of her son Larry in a motorcycle accident. We will miss the nurturing love of our mom and grandma, and will always hold her close in our hearts. Mary’s family would like to thank the many caregivers who provided her with kind and compassionate care.
At Mary’s request, a private funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Endicott followed by interment at the Slovak Catholic Cemetery in Binghamton will be held at the convenience of the family.
