Mary Catherine Brown Guilfoyle, 87, of Endicott, died peacefully at home on Monday April 1st, 2024, after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert (Bob) Thomas Guilfoyle; her parents John Edward Brown, and Margaret Ann Cleary Brown; her brother John Robert (Bobby) Brown; two sisters-in-law Patricia Brown, and Bonnie Guilfoyle; two brothers-in-law David Guilfoyle, and James Gibbs. She is survived by her children Kathleen (Kevin) Wood of Vestal, Kelli (Joseph) Guilfoyle Quigley of Binghamton, Robert (Nicki) Guilfoyle of Binghamton; grandchildren Margaret Wood, Mary Kathryn Quigley, Ryan and Kaylea Guilfoyle; a brother-in-law Jack (Maude) Guilfoyle; a sister-in-law Mary Anne Gibbs, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and a retired Senior Medical Laboratory Technician at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City. Mary was raised on a farm in Pennsylvania and often told stories of living “in the country” with her Grandparents and cousins. Her family later moved to Binghamton where she attended St Paul’s school and graduated from St Patrick’s Academy. Mary and Bob were married in 1958. They moved into their Endicott residence in 1967 where she resided for the remainder of her life. She was known by her family and friends to be an amazing athlete; she was recognized by Golf Digest for getting a hole-in-one at EnJoie Golf Course. Her favorite activities included golfing, bowling, reading, having friends over to play cards, and vacationing in Myrtle Beach! In the last few years her favorite activity was watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night, and often “toasting” with a glass of champagne.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Friday, April 12 at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, 705 West Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760.
Mary’s Celebration of Life will continue at Kelly’s Sports Bar 102 North Page Avenue, Endicott, Friday, April 12 from 4-7 pm, all are welcome!
