Mary E. (Peet) Smallcomb of Vestal, NY passed away on October 6, 2017 suddenly after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her parents, three brothers, grandson, granddaughter and great granddaughter. She is survived by her husband Thomas G. Smallcomb Jr. of 25 years. Her children, Brenda Colson (Greg), Rolla Birmingham (Amy), Deborah Smallcomb, Thomas G. Smallcomb III, Andrea Raymond (Sam) and Nicole Nealy (Donnell). Mary has 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Siblings Nancy (Sonny), Gertrude (Gary), Richard, Donna, Roger (Cheryl) and Cherylann, also several nieces, nephews, cousins and several close and special friends. Mary graduated from Whitney Point. She retired from IBM/ Lockheed Martin and Sears Hardware. Currently was employed at Staples, Vestal. NY She was an active member of the Vestal American Legion Auxiliary, holding several positions within the Unit, County, District, and Dept. of NY ALA. She was appointed by Governor Patterson to be the President of the Board of Visitors at the Oxford Veterans Home and also the Bath VA&R Medical Center
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Wednesday 12 pm at the American Legion Post 89, 118 Jensen Road, Vestal. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Tuesday from 2-4 and evening 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, family would request donations be made in Mary’s name to either the ALA 6th District Oxford Home C/O Tammy Darrow 6 Lillian Drive, Binghamton, NY 13903 or Bath Veterans Home Gift shop C/O Addie Butler 289 Flint Road, Binghamton, NY 13905.
