Mary Elisabeth Mikielewicz Tierney died on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in Endicott, NY.
She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on July 21, 1942. Mary was pre-deceased by her mother, Mary Pirozok, and her beloved brother, Tony Mikielewicz, whose life’s struggles had a deep impact on Mary’s life.
She is survived by her loving son, Christopher Tierney (Suzi), the pride and joy of her life, her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Tierney and Caitlyn Elisabeth Tierney (her namesake). She is also survived by her treasured sister-in-law Sue Mikielewicz, who was loved like a sister, her nieces Angela Sargent (John), and great nephew Jerry, and Andrea Van Brunt (Travis) and great nephew, Owen.
Mary graduated from Binghamton University with her B.S. and her M.A. degrees. Early in her career, she worked for the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, and later retired from the Department of Defense in Owego, NY.
Mary loved dogs, Salisbury Beach, seashells, Ohio State football, and spending time with her family and her friends whom added so much to her life. Mary found joy in the simplest of pleasures and had a great appreciation for , and pride in, all of the blessings that life afforded her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 10 am, Friday, April 11, at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511–513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday, April 10 from 4 to 6 pm.
As you probably know, Mary would have preferred a much later time! Mary would like those in attendance to feel free to wear bright colors.
