Marylou (Masciarelli) Stirpe, 91 (affectionately known as “Mina” by her grandsons) of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025 at Mercy House. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Louis in 2015; her sisters Rosie, Angie and Pauline; and niece Claire.

She is survived by her beloved son, Joseph and his wife Courtney, whom she often referred to as the daughter she never had; and her cherished grandsons Joseph Thomas and Zachary Louis Stirpe, who meant the absolute world to her. She is survived by her nieces whom she held dear to her heart, Mary Louise Paoletti and her children Steven, Joseph and Kim, Alberta Petrilli, and Georgiann Noce; and nephew George (Barbara). Also, survived by her brother Tony and his daughters Toni, Renee, Lisa and Sue. She will be forever missed by her close friend, Linda Demkovich, with whom she shared countless conversations, including fond memories of their grandsons, trips to Boscov’s, followed by lunch where Mom could enjoy her martini!

Marylou was born on December 26, 1933 to Joe and Louise Masciarelli in Binghamton, NY. Marylou’s work ethic was unwavering, working tirelessly for the family business, Masciarelli’s Market for many years. After marrying the love of her life Louie, she worked out of the home as a hair stylist so she could focus on raising her son Joe. She then went on to work at IBM for 17 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement she and Lou enjoyed being snowbirds in Naples Florida for many years. Mom was a woman of reflection, often reminiscing about the many wonderful memories of her life. She cherished countless nights spent with Louie enjoying champagne in the “bucket” in their backyard, teaching JT and Zach how to cook, perfecting her Rusty Nails, Roaring Fork happy hours and tending to her rose bush, which she lovingly maintained for over 40 years. Her close family meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent her with her son, daughter in-law and grandsons. Mom, you will be forever missed!

The family would like to thank Nancy Evans and the staff at Diabetic Care Associates for their exceptional care and support for Mom. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at UHS Wilson North Tower 2, the Palliative Care team at BGH and caring staff and volunteers at Mercy House for providing a peaceful place of comfort during her final days.
