Maureen Anne (Calleo) Patrick, aged 70, of Endicott, New York, passed away on August 28, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on October 9, 1953, in Binghamton, NY, she was a cherished member of the local community and a beacon of love and tradition for her family.
Maureen was a dedicated businesswoman, owning and operating the popular Hanks for Her on Front Street. Her impeccable eye for style, passion for fashion, and dedication to her clientele cultivated a warm, welcoming atmosphere that extended beyond the realm of retail. She cherished the personal connections she made through her business.
Beyond her professional achievements, Maureen was the matriarch of her family. Her life was rich with the joy of family traditions and the companionship of dear friends. Her culinary skills were a cornerstone of many family gatherings. She took great pleasure in traveling to visit relatives in Canada and Italy. Maureen’s vivacious spirit was a source of delight wherever she was, her storytelling, laughter, and irresistible personality were truly infectious. She was a friend to all and stranger to none.
Maureen's faith was a guiding force in her life, and she demonstrated her spiritual devotion through her unwavering support of the church. As a member of the Daughters of Columbus Lodge 1666, Maureen embraced her heritage with pride.
Maureen’s most cherished role was becoming “Nonna” to Gianna, where she enjoyed the finer activities in life, such as singing, reading books, blowing bubbles, playing Barbie, doing makeup, teaching Italian and sharing her love of cooking. Their mutual love and support for each other were unwavering. They cherished every moment together.
Maureen's memory will be held in the hearts of her family forever. She was preceded in her journey to eternal peace by her parents, Henry and Monica Calleo Sr., along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Maureen is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Cara and Joseph Dattoria; her adored granddaughter, Gianna Dattoria; her devoted siblings, Joe (Lori) Calleo, Colleen (Scott) Goldstone, and Henry (Tami) Calleo; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and her loyal four-legged companion, Bella. Maureen is also survived by three cherished friends, Cheryl “Sherry” (Wayne) Teris, Shelia (Pat) McManus, and Caroline DeBonis. A special thanks to Tammy Svenson for all the care she gave to Maureen, allowing her stay in her home in her final months.
Maureen will be profoundly missed. Maureen’s life was a testament to the joy of genuine connection, both in business and in personal relationships. Maureen's legacy of love, warmth, generosity, and style will be remembered by all who met her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am, Friday, September 6 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday, September 5 from 4-7 pm.
