Michael Casiuk

Michael J. Casiuk, 64, of Endicott, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his brother, David Casiuk, and his grandparents. He is survived by the love of his life of 24 years, his wife, Cindy Lee; his sons, Christopher and Joseph Casiuk; stepchildren, Dina Fields, Derek, Dustin, and Desiree Lee; grandchildren, Jaxon Henkiel, Christian Lee, and Cheyenne Casiuk; parents, Phillip F. and Shirley Casiuk; siblings, Teresa (Colian), Cindy (Joe) Van Atta, Phillip J. (Joanne) Casiuk, Mark (Paula) Casiuk; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, including a very special cousin, Nene. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Cargill; father-in-law Jerrold (Carole) Cargill Sr.; and brother-in-law Jerrold (Kim) Cargill Jr. And most importantly, his best friend and furry faithful companion, Jake, who will miss him dearly. Mike dedicated over 40 years to the sheet metal industry. He spent the last 12 of those years working tirelessly at Southern Tier Custom Fabricators, where those in the work force always knew him as “Sluggo”. He also spent the last several years putting his heart and soul into opening two successful daycare centers for families in our community, and spent copious amounts of hours renovating their recently purchased bowling alley, Ideal Bowling Center, Mike had been bowling for over 50 years. When he was not devoting his time to work, Mike had many passions he pursued. As an avid sportsman, Mike loved snowmobiling, fishing, bowling, racing, and baseball. Mike and Cindy also loved spending their weekends passionately watching the Binghamton Senators as season ticket holders for the past 14 years. Mike could always be seen putting up and taking down the helmet on the ice. He spent many treasured hours hunting and fishing with his two sons, times in which were greatly cherished by him. Mike also spent many years coaching travel softball for the B.C. Breakers, where he instilled his hard-work ethic, dedication, determination, and love of sports into young athletes. He always looked back so fondly on the memories he created through coaching and was so honored by all the young lives he touched. Mike was a hardworking, devoted, caring man who never ceased to give his all to those he loved. Mike never stopped helping others, always bending over backwards to help anyone in need. He continuously spread his generosity to all those who surrounded him. Never one for “sugarcoating”, Mike always told it how it was, but always did with love and honesty, as those around him so often heard the term “One Way”. Mike was a family man, who was never prouder than when talking about his beloved children. However, his most treasured moments of all, were those spent with his grandchildren. His smile was never bigger than when the word “Papa” was called to him. Mike’s family would like to thank the devoted staff at Wilson Hospital, along with those at Strong Memorial Hospital, for their untiring and attentive care.
A short memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, at 10 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Friends and family can pay their respects to Mike at the Allen Memorial Home, Tuesday, May 2nd from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or any local youth sports organization, all of which were near and dear to Mike’s heart. Mike’s contagious laugh and burly bear hugs will be forever missed, but his generosity, kind spirit, and legacy will live on in all of those who love him.
