Michael “Mike” York

Michael J. York, 58, of Johnson City, NY joined all those that passed before him on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his father, Roger York, grandparents and many who were close to him.
He leaves behind his life partner, Susan Albanese, mother, Judith York, sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Gavin Knickerbocker, nieces Kara and Katrina, and his feline buddy, Bubba. He is survived by his Aunt Stephanie (Donald) Nelson, cousin Jessica (Jason) and Aidan Flynn. He is also survived by several cousins and had multiple “second families” who loved him, the Albanese, Knickerbocker, Osborn, Pavlik and Rowe families. Mike is also survived by the Williamson Family and Kristin and Ryan McNamara. Mike had many close relationships through the years and those remained life-long friends who were always very dear to him.
Mike graduated from Johnson City High School in 1983. He had a strong relationship with St. James Parish and Two Rivers Church. He had a strong belief in God and the fellowship of mankind. He loved growing up on Andrews Avenue and his days spent in our neighborhood. He shared many fun summers at Lake Timberline with family and friends.
His greatest pleasures were time spent reminiscing with family and friends. He was a proud member of the “Vikings Nation”. He loved Nascar, golfing, playing the drums, camping and entertaining anyone who stopped by to visit.
Mike was a terrific son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He loved his family and friends and would do anything to see them smile. He was a joy to all who knew him and everyone has a story that they can tell about how Mike touched their hearts. He was the most loyal, kind and compassionate man, and even through his struggles, he always put others first.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all of the support during this very difficult time. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mercy House or Every Cat’s Dream.
“Our hearts are heavy with sadness and tears, but our memories are full of the love and kindness you gave us over the years.” Our lives will be duller without his light.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am, Monday, July 10 at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Sunday, July 9 from 3-5 pm.
