Mildred (Mickey) Johnston, 96, of Endwell, NY (formerly of Apalachin, NY; East Hyde Park, NY; and Vestal, NY), died October 17th, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Clinton; parents, Alfred and May Lewis; brothers, Howard and Robert Lewis. She is survived by her children, C. Michael and Peggy Johnston of Brandon, FL; Steven and Debra Johnston of Martinsburg, WV; Gary and Jeri Johnston of Endwell, NY; two grandchildren, Timothy and wife Kinsey Johnston, and their children Carlyn and Liam of Sterling, VA; and Kelly Johnston of Boston, MA.
Mickey was an experienced beautician, she owned and operated “Mickey’s Beauty Shop” in Vestal, NY in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. She continued working as a beautician out of her home throughout her life.
Mickey enjoyed spending the summers with Clint at their cottage on Cayuga Lake. They liked traveling, especially taking cruises and visiting new countries. In retirement, they spent winters in Brandon, FL, making many friends there throughout the years.
Mickey was a creative person, establishing an impressive doll collection, painting landscapes, being active in garden clubs, and enjoying ballroom and square dancing with Clint. She was also a long-time member of the Eastern Star and the Vestal Elks Lodge #2508. She was a member of the Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist church.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11 am Wednesday, October 23 at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Wednesday, October 23 from 10 a until service time at 11 am.
