Mildred (Millie) Ziemba joined her parents in heaven on January 5, 2018. She was pre-deceased by parents, Marie and Bedrick Krmenec, and a treasured sister and friend, Frances Wargo. Millie leaves behind a family that loved her very much - daughters: Elaine (Roger) Pilotti and Donna (Lon) Jones; grandchildren: Melissa (John) Cichostepski, Carissa (Matthew Kleinman) Pilotti, Lon Jones, and Kathryn Pilotti; great-granddaughters: Olivia and Alexandra Kleinman. She was so proud of her entire family and expressed that often. Millie is also survived by sisters Helen Nemcanski and Josephine Kunzman. And she leaves behind her great friend, Conrad Bishop. Over the past years, they had lots of good times together at numerous social functions. She loved all the church bazaars and rummage sales, going to Tioga Downs with Conrad, and seeing friends, old and new, whenever she could. After graduation from Union-Endicott High School, Millie went to work at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Factory. Her proudest moment was being crowned “Miss EJ” in the early 1950’s. During her reign, she would be the beautiful face seen by the EJ boys going off to the Korean War. Millie then enjoyed a long career as a waitress at some of the area’s fine-dining establishments - the Colonial, the Fountains and the Apple Tree restaurants. To paraphrase her favorite singer - “She did it her Way” - this is how Millie will be remembered.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
