Mollie Jo (Bernstein) Siegel passed away, Friday, October 25, 2024.
She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy Wronker Bernstein of Rochester, NY.
She is survived by three sons Steven L. Siegel, Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee; Bruce H. Siegel, Humble, Texas; Ronald (Tracie) Siegel and granddaughter Kristen of E. Harwich, Massachusetts; and cherished friend, Sylvia Fulk, of Endicott, NY.
Mollie Jo graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology Art & Design School in 1956. She worked as an artist for the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences from 1956-1960.
Mollie Jo moved to Endwell, N.Y. in 1960. While raising her sons, she found time for numerous and diverse interests, including assisting with her sons' Boy Scout activities, delivering Broome County Meals On Wheels and acting as Prop Master for 12 years of Summer Savoyards productions. She joined the Garden Club of Endwell in 1963, becoming its President in 1969 and serving as an Assistant Director of the 6th District Board for a number of years. She staged flower shows for the club which won three individual NYS National Council Flower Show Awards. She also wrote and directed many club presentations at the local, district and state level.
Mollie Jo became a student of the arts at an early age, studying music at the Eastman School of Music and painting at the Rochester Art Gallery. Her involvement in the arts was a life long pursuit, including participation in school, college and community productions.
In 1970 she began what was to become an extended and integral involvement with the Maine-Endwell School District Theatre Department. This was a job Mollie Jo truly loved and one for which she received much acclaim. She co-directed her last show at MEMS in November, 2008.
Mollie worked for the Press & Sun-Bulletin for 26 years . She wore many hats in the Circulation Department Carrier Counselor, Customer Service Rep, District Sales Manager, Promotion Manager, Regional Spelling Bee Co-coordinator, Employee Activity President and United Way Chairwoman. She was named Employee of the Year in 1993.
At Mollie Jo's request, the family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving "sister" Sylvia Fulk for her unwavering friendship, companionship and loving care. They also thank everyone that made it possible for her to return to a normal life after cancer.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Wednesday, October 30, from 10 am - 12 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
