Nellie (Stackowitz) Leskow, 88, of Endwell, NY passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on Tuesday April 18, 2017, after a few months of declining health. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Nellie Stackowitz; and her brother, Samuel Stackowitz. Nellie was born in Susquehanna, PA before moving to Binghamton, NY. Nellie is survived by her husband of 66 years, George; her son, David (Anne) of Westport, CT and her granddaughter, Helena of Westport, CT of whom she adored. Usually introduced by relatives as “Aunt Nellie”, she has a large extended family in and around the Binghamton area that includes in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews along with close neighbors and friends that she always considered family. Nellie graduated from Binghamton Central High School, Class of ’46 and is best known for her love of animals, her holiday baking talent, and her beautiful backyard garden and canning skills, which she shared with everyone. While a member of St. Casimir’s Parish, Nellie was an active member of the Ladies Guild and more recently a parishioner of The Church of the Holy Family in Endwell.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 10 am Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
