Nora Purtell

Nora S. Purtell, 63, of Little Meadows, PA, passed away Monday morning, March 6, 2017 after a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Ruth Quackenbush, her father in law and mother in law Francis and Margaret Purtell, her devoted husband of 36 years, Robert (Bobby) Purtell, her sister, Linda Richey, and sister in law Karen Purtell. Nora leaves her daughter Amee (Kevin) Howe, son John (Jennifer) Purtell, and four grandchildren Nicholas, Emelia, Ella, and Lucy. She is also survived by her brothers, Dewey (Helene), Earl (Deborah), and Richard Quackenbush (Theresa Tross), in addition to several brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. Nora adored her family, particularly when it came to spending time with her amazing grandchildren. Her generosity was well known by those close to her, but was often quietly extended to others in times of need. Nora’s health declined gradually and reduced her quality of life in her last years, but she received outstanding care and friendship along the way that kept her spirits up and provided her the gift of more time with her loved ones. The family wishes to express particular gratitude to her friends, Brenda M., Jody S., Julia Miller, M.D., and the staff at UHS Wilson Hospital. Also, to Rick Quackenbush and Bill and Mary Lou Martin for tending to her health and home needs during her illness.
The family will receive friends Friday 5-7 pm at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11 am at Little Meadows United Methodist Church 328 Pennsylvania Avenue, Little Meadows PA. Interment will follow in St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, Little Meadows. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Little Meadows Rescue Squad, P.O.
