Norma Mastroianni

Norma (Testani) Mastroianni, 90, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on Monday April 2, 2018 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years Emilio G. Mastroianni, her parents Peter and Helen (Fortunata) Testani, her brother Fred Testani (Cara) and her beloved son, Mark. Norma is survived by her brother Billy Testani (Janet), her son Dr. Anthony (Lori Retzlaff), her daughter Natalie Holton (James) and a special Aunt, Mal (Zizi) Clemente; daughters-in-law Nancy, Patti and Jill; her grandchildren Dr. Travis (Erin), Maria (Justyn), Michael (Christina), Adam (Jessica), Mason (Maraela), Mick, and Jordan (Michael); 10 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her very best friend and granddaughter, Samantha (Erik). Norma graduated from Union Endicott high school in 1945, married Emilio in 1947 and began raising a family. She enjoyed spending summers at their cottage on Oneida Lake and dancing with Emilio at the Fountains Pavilion and Sons of Italy hall. But Norma’s true passion was cooking holiday and special occasion meals for the family. Her culinary skills were locally revered, having placed first in both a pie baking contest and the first Spiedie Fest contest with her special spiedie marinade recipe. Norma was a lifelong member of the Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Daughters of Columbus. Thank you to Dr. Gehring, Lourdes Hospice, and the Mercy House staff /volunteers for all their love and friendship.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 11 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Monday from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mercy House in Norma’s name would be greatly appreciated.
