Norman “Norm” Seastrand

d. March 31, 2018

Norman C. Seastrand, 62, of Apalachin passed from this life after a long, courageous battle against cancer on Saturday, March 31st. He was predeceased by his sister, Karen Seastrand, his parents Paul and Dorothy Seastrand, and his daughter-in-law, Sandy Seastrand. He is survived by his wife, Debra Seastrand, his children, Ian and Andrea Seastrand, his son-in-law, Tony Williams, three beloved granddaughters, Isabella, Rebecca, and Cassidy Seastrand, his in-laws, Vincent and Marie Fontana, his sister, Patricia DeSousa, and many loving nieces and nephews in an extended family that loved him as a son, brother, mentor, and friend. Known to many by his middle name of Corey, Norm began working at IBM Endicott at a young age and continued his career as a Research and Design Engineer. It was Norm’s wish that this obituary mention the many coworkers and friends he considered himself fortunate to learn from and work beside. Thank you. As a man of high quality standards, Norm worked tirelessly to rebuild a prized 1971 Porsche 911 and, when that was completed, could be found in his workshop, completing any number of wood or metalworking projects to precise, exacting specifications. Norm was also a talented fisherman, heading out for remote lakes long before sunrise with his son and nephews, regardless of the season. He shared a love for dogs and music with his daughter and granddaughters and was a fan of The Beatles, Chicago, The Moody Blues, Dan Fogelberg, and Fleetwood Mac. A man of talent and intelligence who appreciated a good cup of black coffee while he watched the birds in his backyard, Norm could make or fix anything and could always be counted on, no matter how simple or challenging the job. His love, his loyalty, and his kind heart will always be missed by those blessed enough to have him as husband, father, son, uncle, and friend during his brief stay in this life.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 1 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 11 am until service time at 1 pm. It is the family’s request that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Foundation, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105 as an expression of gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and staff who helped Norm during his fight.
