Ovidio R. “Bob” Neira, 89, of Johnston City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024. Bob was born on February 22, 1935, in Endicott, New York to Ovidio and Emily (Rotunno) Neira. He was united in marriage to Jennie (Zick), and they shared 58 years of marriage together, before she preceded him in death on January 17, 2020. He later met Patti Morgan, whom he was engaged to. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister in law, Roland (Butch) and Mary Ann Neira; brothers-in-law, Ben DiLorenzo Sr. and William Zick . He is survived by his two daughters, Sheril Terboss of Kirkwood, NY and Terri (Kenneth) Hayes of Windsor, NY; fiancé, Patti Morgan of Johnston City, IL; two grandchildren, Adam Terboss and Kenneth Lee (Tara Scales) Hayes, Jr.; two step-children, Sylgrida (David) Douberly of St. George, UT and Tyler (Heather) Morgan of Johnston City, IL; step-grandchildren, Austin, Elijah, Cole, Madison, and Jackson Douberly, Aubrey and Kinley Morgan; sister, Barb DiLorenzo. He is also survived by his loyal canine companion Cera, who will miss him dearly, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob’s life was one of service and dedication with proudly serving in the Army, Navy and U. S. Marine Corp. He continued with his service and commitment with the U.S. Marines over many years, serving and holding many positions both locally and nationally in the Marine Corp League. Before his move to Illinois, he served as member of the John W. Thurston Detachment in Binghamton, NY and he was the Commandant in the Endless Mountain Detachment in Hallstead, PA. He currently served as a member of the Lincoln Land Leatherneck Detachment 1174 in Greenville, IL. He also had a long career in nursing at UHS Wilson Memorial Hospital. His love for his family was immeasurable and he found great joy in the companionship of his beloved dog, Cera, who was often by his side. His loyalty and devotion to both his family and his furry friend were just a few of the many ways he showed his care for those around him. A true connoisseur of cigars, Bob enjoyed many peaceful moments in the company of close friends and family, savoring the simple pleasures of life and creating lasting memories. Bob was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Paul Catholic Church in Johnston City, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 15th at Our Lady of Good Council at 701 W Main Street, Endicott, NY. Family and friends can pay their respects at church from 10:00-11:00 am, with a Mass to follow at 11:00 am.
