Patricia Leighton

Patricia A. Leighton, 72, passed away with her family by her side on July 24, 2021, after a few struggling years with dementia. She is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Anne Coyle; brothers, Kenneth Coyle and Raymond Coyle. Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Gary of 49 years; her children, James Leighton and Karen Leighton-Smith (Kenneth); grandchildren, Allyson, Emily and Leighton; sister, Cathy Page (Dennis); sister-in-law, Mary Coyle; nephews and nieces, Michael, Timothy, Brian, Kevin and Christa. Patricia graduated from Seton High School and Marywood University where she received a Primary and Special Education teaching degree. She was employed 33 years as teacher by Vestal Central School District. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her warm personality, smile and endearing friendships were one in a million. She fulfilled her dreams of building a house and various trips to Europe. Her favorite past time was shopping and chatting. She earned nicknames such as Chatty Patty and Social Catalyst. She will be missed and remembered as one who made a mark on many hearts. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 12:30 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott at 1 pm. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Tuesday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Expressions of sympathy in Patricia’s memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
