Patricia Murray

d. January 29, 2015

Patricia Ann (Kincel) Murray, Endwell, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and Mary on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born April 16, 1930 in Scranton, PA, Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Agnes (Foley) Kincel, brother, Karl, sister Jacquelyn, and her eldest son, James G. Murray. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James J Murray, Endwell, daughter in law Mary Beth Murray of Endicott, her sons Gerard, Endwell, Michael (Deborah), Syracuse, NY, her daughters Patricia, Endwell, and Carla Coon (Darrell), Johnson City, her sons Christopher (Nancy), Endicott, Paul (Donna), Endicott, and Joseph (Sharon), Rochester, NY. She is also survived by her sister Arlene Cunningham, Scranton, PA, thirty four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Patricia graduated from South Scranton Catholic High School in 1948. After high school, she worked in the offices of the Diocese of Scranton. Then she met James, the one and only love of her life, whom she wed in December of 1953. Their marriage was blessed with eight children, and Patsy never ceased to credit Saint Gerard Majella, patron saint of all mothers, for the gift of each of her children and 48 grand and great-grandchildren. We were blessed in countless ways to have had nearly 85 years with this incredible example of grace - a perfect and unselfish wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the matriarch of a large and happy faith-filled family, and we praise God for her. Her example of Christian love and patience, of tireless giving and calm unwavering faith in God’s Divine will and His plan for us, will live on until we meet her again where we can praise God together with all His saints! Patricia was a remarkable homemaker with an eye for fashion and decorating, and she was a talented, creative, and sometimes daring cook. She loved the arts, was an avid reader, writer, an artist, and enjoyed ballroom dancing with the love of her life. Anyone who knew her would say she had so many talents in so many areas, she could have gone anywhere and done anything, yet she chose to stay home with her family and expend her gifts on them giving all the highest example of grace. Mostly, Patricia will be remembered for her singular grace of seeing beauty in everything and everyone around her. Her capacity to love was boundless, and she will be dearly and forever missed.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church at 10 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Sunday from 2-5 pm.
