Paul A. Hamlin Jr., 88, of Binghamton passed away peacefully after a brief illness, Friday, June 21, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; sister, Betty; and first wife, Berta Jean. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Marian; children, Thomas (Alexis) Hamlin; Dee Ann Schond; and Paul III (Glynna) Hamlin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, James (Mary Kay) Hamlin; special family friend, Rick DeMars; as well as several nieces and nephews. Paul attended Ogden Hillcrest United Methodist Church and was active in Meals on Wheels. He was an avid golfer and bowler, recording both a hole in one and a 300 game. Paul was a veteran of W.W.II, serving in the U.S. Army as a member of the 299th Combat Engineers that landed on Utah Beach during the D-Day invasion. He also was a member of a committee that organized the 299th reunions in Binghamton. He retired from IBM Endicott after 33 years of service. Paul was an enthusiastic member of the Kattelville Senior Association and was president for many years.He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his love of Dixieland jazz, and his wonderful sense of humor. Funeral Services will be11 am, Tuesdayat Ogden Hillcrest United Methodist Church,1061 Chenango Street, Binghamton,with Reverend Joyce K. Allen officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Wednesday at 10 am. The family will receive friends at Ogden Hillcrest United Methodist Church, Tuesday from9:30 amuntil service timeat 11 am.
