Paul Petcosky, 85, passed peacefully into eternal rest at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on January 10, 2018. Paul was predeceased by his father and mother, Nicholas and Mary Petcosky, and his brothers, Nickolas, Joseph, John, Andrew, Donald, and his sister Ann. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret L. Petcosky, and his children; Thomas Petcosky, Laurie (Scott) Simon, Mary (Brady) Spetz, Michael (Kim) Petcosky, Theresa (Daniel) Kelly, and his daughter-in-law Greta Myers. Paul is also survived by his grandchildren Katherine (Abhi) Petcosky-Kulkarni, Anna Petcosky, Alex Simon, Nicholas Simon, Erika (Steven) Hickey, Daniel Spetz, Krista (Brian) Terrell, and Justin (Erin) Petcosky. Paul is also survived by three great grand -children, Parker and Cameron Terrell, and Skylar Petcosky. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Thomas) Gallagher, and his brother-in-law Robert (Dawn) Safford. He is survived by several cousins. Paul is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, several of whom considered Paul like a father. He also had many lifelong and loving friends. Paul was a retired pipefitter from the State of New York, and the founder of Petcosky & Sons Plumbing and Heating Company. Paul kept a watchful eye over the company and enjoyed working day to day with his sons and grandson along with all the staff up until this past year. Paul was a founding member of St. Vincent De Paul/Blessed Sacrament Church. Paul was most known for his love of his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored, and they adored him. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Vestal Park Nursing Home for their loving care of Paul, and also the staff at 1 West at Lourdes Hospital for their compassionate care in Paul’s last days. A special thank you to Kathy McCarthy, and Fran Spring for their loving and compassionate care and for allowing Paul to remain in his home much longer than was thought possible. The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. John Walters for more than 40 years of cardiac care and friendship. We truly believe if it was not for your expertise he would not have lived such a long wonderful life! Thank You!
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday at St. Vincent De Paul/Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-4 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
