Philip Heierman

Philip D. Heierman, 74, of Endwell, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 after a brief battle with Lymphoma. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara, brother John and parents Jane and Siegfried Heierman. He is survived by his sons, Chris (Jeannette Hampp) and Sean (Amanda) Heierman; daughter, Jena (Mike) Murphy; sister-in-law, Ann Miner, brother-in-law, John (Mary) Petko; 8 grandchildren: Claudia, Raegan, Carter, Lillian, Nash, Camryn, Kevin and Morgan; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Phil was a U.S. Navy Veteran, stationed in San Diego, CA from 1969-1975. After the service, Phil began his career at Cornell University. The family moved back to Binghamton where he spent 25 years as an engineer at IBM. He then went to work for Lockheed Martin in Owego before retiring in 2017 to be the main caregiver for his wife, Barbara. Phil enjoyed many things in life: a good cup of coffee (frequently found at the Starbucks in Vestal), striking up a conversation with just about anyone but he especially loved watching his grandkids dance or play sports. Many thanks to all the nurses and doctors at Wilson Hospital who took care of him over the past few weeks.
Calling hours will be held from 4-6pm on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Phil’s life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 23 at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery.
