Phouthone (Muey) Phetphongsy passed away suddenly on November 30th at the age of 56. He was born in Vientiane Laos, the youngest child of Phet and Boukham Khouphongsy. He liked to think they saved the best for last. Boukham, Phouthone’s mother escaped Laos with her to youngest children Phouthone and Phonekham to seek refuge in Thailand refugee camp in 1977. They arrived on April 16 1978 in Binghamton NY. Phouthone went to school in the Binghamton City school district. Never graduating from high school did not deter him from being a productive man. He entered the manufacturing workforce working for EJ until the shutdown in 1992. He then took an assembly position at Felchar Manufacturing with his stellar work ethic he was a promoted to material handler position for the next 16 years. He was employed the last 10 years at Endicott Precision. Every person who worked with him through his manufacturing career knew he would get the job done. He had a never quit attitude from the time he punched in to the time he clocked out. He believed you needed to not just show up every day you needed to earn every paycheck. Phouthone spend his life working hard to provide for his family. Phouthone meet Margaret Davis in the early 80’s through social connections becoming friends before they fell in love. They welcomed a son Thomas James (TJ) in May of 1991. Becoming a dad was his most important and worthwhile job he would ever hold, making him determined to be a role model to his son. He taught him basic life skills, about honesty, hard-work and that above all family is everything. Phouthone never said no to anyone who needed help whether you needed a roof on your house, your car needing repairs or just being the BBQ master you could count on him. Phouthone loved being outdoors sitting around a blazing fire listening to his music with a wine in his hand. He liked to go fishing but he loved being able to give the daily catch away to his family to enjoy. He is predeased by his parents Phet and Boukham Khouphongsy, his two brothers Daovone and Oudarone. He is survived by his love and life partner Margaret Davis for 31 years, his only child Thomas James (TJ); six brothers and sisters Amkhone, Lammone, Souksakhone, Khamsone, Thavone, and Phon ekham; many wonderful nieces and nephews that he loved with all his heart. Phouthone was a humble amazing family man. We will miss him so very much but we will carry his love around with us everyday until we are reunited.
Our family invites you celebrate Phouthone’s life on Thursday December 5th at 12 noon at Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott NY 13760.
