Phyllis Gursky

Phyllis T. Gursky, 80, of Vestal, died peacefully in her sleep February 17, 2018 at Lourdes Hospital, holding the hand of her one true love, Paul Gursky, her husband of 58 years. Born in Mayfield, PA on November 30, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Laskowski Prybicien. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows church in Vestal where she was active in many activities including the “Knotters”, delivering over 1000 sleeping bags to the homeless. She was devoted to saying the rosary before mass every Tuesday morning. For many years, Phyllis and Paul danced with the Bill Flynn Polka Dancers, and enjoyed traveling the Eastern Seaboard for Polka conventions, where they made many friends. She also enjoyed traveling across country, to Hawaii, and to Europe, especially Germany for Oktoberfest. In addition to her husband Paul, she is survived by her daughter Karen and husband Ron Walter, Endicott; son Paul, Peekskill; granddaughter Diana and husband Manuel Nolasco, Ft. Worth, TX and great-granddaughters Paisley and Katie. She is also survived by a sister Victoria Karausky, Vandling, PA; a twin brother Frank Prybicien and wife Elizabeth, Mayfield, PA; brother-in-law Thomas Trusky, Forest City, PA; sister-in-law Ruth and husband Frank Ostanek Binghamton, several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased in death by three brothers, Martin, Carl and Thomas; and four sisters, Veronica, Theresa, Patricia and Ann Louise.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 am at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 7 pm at Allen Memorial Home.
