Phyllis Kacmarik (née Monforte), age 88, Binghamton, NY, passed away from Covid-19 on December 9, 2020, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Phyllis was predeceased by her loving, devoted husband of 29 years, Oscar Kacmarik, her parents Anthony and Santina Monforte, brothers Tony and Pat ‘the Cat’ Monforte. Phyllis is survived by her loving son Ron Emerick and his wife Grace, along with her beloved “light of her life” grandchildren Thomas Emerick (Betsy) and granddaughter Veronica. She is also survived by her loving nieces Alesandria (Pete) Auseklis, Melissa Monforte, nephew Patrick Monforte, sister-in-law Becky Monforte, cousins Joseph (Marguerite) Monforte, Faye Hinze Monforte, other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was also survived by her stepchildren Sue McMahon, Joe Kacmarik, Ron Kacmarik and step-grandchildren.
Phyllis retired from Endicott Johnson in 1994 after a successful 40+ year career in the accounting division. Phyllis will always be known for her love of music and singing; especially in the St. Thomas Aquinas church choir. She came from a musical family with her father, Tony Sr. (Guitar) and her famous brothers Tony (Drums) and Pat the Cat (Saxophone). She passed her love of music to her son Ron (Keyboardist) and her grandson Thomas (Guitar).
A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Phyllis was adored and was ‘grandma’ to many friends and family.
Phyllis was known for being well dressed, black curly hair, famous spaghetti and meatball dinners and of course her beautiful singing voice.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 11 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1 Aquinas Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Appropriate precautions are being taken for public health concerns, including masks, social distancing. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to: The American Diabetes Association.
