Raymond “Ray” Schmidt

Raymond Eugene Schmidt, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Ray is survived by his wife and best friend of 41 years, Joelyn (Randesi) Schmidt, his daughter and son in law, Erica and Gino D’Alessandro of Endicott and the loves of his life, his grandchildren Mia and Giancarlo D’Alessandro. Raymond was born on Valentine’s Day to Evelyn (Ferris) and the late Belvin Schmidt and survived by his brothers Philip and wife Mary Schmidt and youngest brother Russell Schmidt. He is also survived by his special cousin Cynthia Finn. Raymond is the son in law of Joseph and Antoinette Randesi, brother in law to Robin and Dominic DiFulvio and Cathy and Mark Marrongelli. Ray had several nieces and nephews. After graduating from Union-Endicott High School in 1968, Raymond proudly served his country during the Vietnam War (1968-1970). He was a die-hard NY Rangers fan, history buff and an animal lover. Raymond’s quiet, gentle demeanor will be sorely missed among those close to him.

A private funeral service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Broome County Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
