Reese Jones, 91 of Apalachin, NY took his final breath at Mercy House, on March 10, 2022, after an extended illness.
He was born on Oct 23rd, 1930 to the late Reese and Maureen Jones of Vestal, NY. He was predeceased by his sister Sabre Hamlin and his wife Shirley (Nelson) who passed away in 2011. To carry on his “infallible” legacy, he has left behind his 3 children, Debra (AZ), David (Sue) of Endwell & Daniel (Debra) Owego. Reese is also survived by his “legendary” brother Tom & wife Marilyn (Apalachin), his 4 grandchildren Amy (Patrick), Ryan (Carly), Erica & Daniel and his great grandchildren, Abbigail, Garrett, Bryor Reese, William, Kaiden & Emmett. He had many wonderful nieces, nephews & cousins. He leaves behind many friends from Florida & a dear friend Myra Santo.
There are absolutely no words that can describe the “Waterman/Holmes Ave Angels”. They include: Beverly Perrucci, Betty Joyce & Laura Jochum, who provided much needed daily meals, “entertainment”, compassionate care & so many wonderful & thoughtful ways they shared their ultimate time. We would also like to thank the wonderful care that Gerald Forsythe, the aid & nurse from Hospice Kristine & May who took care of our father.
Oh, if you feel the urge to spend money…….our dad would not want anyone to waste their money on flowers for his funeral. Mr. Frugal himself…….
Instead, he would be tickled pink and hope that you will honor him with an unexpected walk or an unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name. He lived a full and happy life and we are honored to celebrate the dash between the day he entered this world and the day he left it. We encourage you to do the same.
If you would love to give to a charitable foundation, please offer any financial help or food donations to the Tioga County Rural Ministry’s food pantry or to Mercy House. As many offered food and meals to our dad, it is only right to offer help to those in need who are struggling with today’s food price increases and also with end of life care. Any and all donations may be made in Reese’s memory to: TCRM, 143 North Avenue, Owego, NY 13827 or Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight~
We would love to thank everyone near & far for all of their graciousness, loving and heart-warming care that was given to our dad with a call, letter, card, care and stopping by. We apologize if we left anyone out. He appreciated every second as though it were his last breath.
