Richard F. Bailey (known fondly by his family and friends as Dick) of the Villages, FL. and formerly Binghamton, NY, passed away on July 21, 2013. He was predeceased by his daughter Donna (Bailey) Byrne; and his parents. Dick is survived by his wife of 72 years, Hazel Bailey; his son Richard L. Bailey (Helen). Also survived by four grandchildren Samantha Ryan, Paige Bailey, Travis Bailey and Laurie (Byrne) Accardo and by three great grandchildren. Dick graduated from Binghamton North High School taking additional courses at IBM. He was employed by IBM for 42 years retiring in 1982. He served 4 1/2 years in the Navy during World War II. Dick loved everything about the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved playing golf, having several holes in one. He was a well known left handed baseball pitcher in his younger day giving up his major league dream to serve in the Navy. A Memorial Service in his honor will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00AM at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St., Endicott NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
