Richard “Rick” J. Cardarelli, 70, of Vestal, NY entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. He was born in Utica, NY to Helen and Joseph Cardarelli. Rick married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Angela Trevisani in 1976. Together they raised two great men, Christopher (Alaina) Cardarelli and Michael (Stephanie) Cardarelli. Rick is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Joseph Cardarelli, father-in-law Frank A. Trevisani, and brothers-in-law, Mark, and Joseph Trevisani. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his greatest treasures, grandchildren Nico, Myla, Alexis, and Ava Cardarelli. Rick is also survived by his sister Sheila (Carl) Famolaro, mother-in-law, Anne Trevisani, brothers and sisters-in laws, Frank (Sandy) Trevisani, Shelley Trevisani, Anna (Michael) LaBella, Vivian Hyde and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica, NY and SUNY Maritime College in 1975 with a degree in Nuclear Engineering. Rick retired from NYSEG following 40 plus years of service and was also a co-owner of Neil’s Archery & Crossbow where he built lifetime friendships. In his spare time, he enjoyed being the instructor for the children’s archery leagues at Neil’s. Rick was a devoted father, supporting his boys in all their various activities including baseball and archery while being an avid hunter and archer. His favorite pastime of retirement was watching his grandson’s little league games. Summertime was spent with family and friends in Old Forge, NY where he enjoyed sitting on the deck, playing games with his grandchildren, and continuing to write lists of detailed instructions for anyone who came to the camp!
Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road., Vestal, NY on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00am. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY from 5pm – 8pm on Monday, June 10th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neil’s Archery and Crossbow Youth Fund, 1460 Union Center Main Hwy., Endicott, NY 13760.
