Richard Hunziker

Richard A. Hunziker, 89, of Vestal died at NYS Veteran’s Home, Oxford on Friday, June 8, 2018, after a period of failing health. He was predeceased by his parents Elbert Richard and Rebecca Hunziker; his wife Rose Marie; son Mark D. Hunziker and sister Ann Okoniewski. Richard is survived by his daughters and sons in law M. Alana (Dennis) Demers; Faye (Jeff) Beam; Linda (Dale) Johnson; sons and daughters in law M. Scott (Tamara) Hunziker and James (Tracy) Hunziker; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Richard was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, many organizations including the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He enjoyed reading and discussing history and politics. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Richard retired from employment from NY State. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at NYS Veteran’s Home, Oxford for their wonderful care.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am, Wednesday, June 13th at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to NYS Veterans’ Home, 4207 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830.
