Richard “Doc Weiss” Weiss

d. August 25, 2013

Richard I. Weiss, 84, entered into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Sunday, August 25, 2013. We know he is at home in heaven because he trusted Jesus Christ, accepting his payment for his sin on Calvary’s cross. He was pre-deceased by a son, Benjamin and his parents, Richard and Mary Jane Weiss of Dayton, OH. He is survived by his wife, Annie, their four children; Richard Weiss and wife Kathy, Lancaster, SC, Sharon Raby and husband, Ronald, Dayton, OH, Mary O’Donnell, Apalachin, and Cynthia Smolko, Hanover, PA. Richard was the beloved grandfather of twelve; great grandfather of six; a great pal to his brother, James Weiss and was loved by several nieces and nephews. Richard taught science for 33 years at Chenango Valley Central School beginning in September 1956 and retiring in June 1989. Many students remember “Doc” Weiss. Richard was a member of Ross Corners Baptist Church and served on the founding board of Ross Corners Christian Academy in 1960. He was a faithful servant in his church as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and also served in the Gideon’s International as President of Broome West Camp. Richard was a veteran of USMC from 1946-1949. He was a graduate of John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark., and SUNY Oneonta.
