Rita A. French, 94, of Endicott passed away peacefully on November 3, 2021 at the Center For Health. and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY. Rita was predeceased by her husband, William S. French in 1978; her parents, Charles and Mary Reilly; her sisters, Ruth Reilly, Helen Card, Marguerite Tinder and Jean Gunn; her brothers Robert and William Reilly and her daughter-in-law, Lisa M. French. She is survived by her daughters Karen (Terry) Aiken of Shaftsbury, VT and Suzanne (David) Chapman of Lake Placid, NY; her sons, Timothy French of Lebanon, CT and Jon (Heidi) French of Sunderland, VT; her grandchildren, Christopher (Deb) Aiken, Heather(Michael) Young, Jessica Aiken, Sarah (Andrew)Hunt, Kari (Adam) Birdsall, Caitlin (Sam) Lerch, Danielle (Michael)Adams, William French and Benjamin French; her great grandchildren, Kaleb and Harper Young, Owen Kravitz, John Lerch, Emerson and Sadie Hunt, Jack and Aleks Birdsall and Hunter Adams; step grandchildren Cori Nicewander, Shawn Thibodeau and Travis Thibodeau and their families and many nieces and nephews. Rita was a 1945 graduate of Union Endicott HS. Rita began her working career at The Bulletin in Endicott where she met her husband William. They were married on October 24, 1953. Rita also worked for Endicott Machine and Tool before becoming the bookkeeper for WMRV/WENE Radio where she worked for over 30 years. Rita’s greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and the “Girls Weekends” with her daughters, daughters-in-law and granddaughters.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 701 West Main Street Endicott, NY on Monday November 8 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City. The Family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street in Endicott on Sunday from 2-5 pm. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls for the professional and compassionate care they gave Rita over the past 7 years.
