Robert Lalor

d. December 8, 2017

Robert T. Lalor, D.D.S. passed peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2017. He was surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Adriana Lalor, and his five children… Patricia ( Michael) Corcoran, Little Meadows, PA., Marie-Thérèse ( Jeff) Lotman, Los Angeles, CA., Robert A. ( Mary John) Lalor, Apalachin, NY., Daniela (Sven) Lohse, Dublin, OH, and Janelle ( Adam) Kovacevich, Arlington, VA, his 12 grandchildren… Thomas ( Kelly) Corcoran, Christine (Jeffrey) Finch, Michael (Caeli) Corcoran, Anna Sophia and Gianna Lotman, Gunnar and Axel Lohse, Maya, Andrew and Sara Lalor, Milo and Summer Kovacevich… 2 great grandchildren Hope and Sterling Finch and his sister Mary (Joseph) Lalli. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Mary Lalor. “Doc”, as he was fondly known, lived a remarkable life. Born in the Bronx to a police detective and school teacher, he made his way through life by hitchhiking to Iona Prep High school, taking a train to Notre Dame University (Go Irish! - another fan in heaven!) and attending Columbia Dental School. He married the love of his life, Adriana, and they moved to Crown Point, New Mexico, where he served as a dentist in the U.S. Public Health Services. He learned to fly and flew with his wife often for many years. Doc and Adriana settled in Apalachin, NY where he started his dental practice. Having grown up in the Bronx, it was always his dream to live on a farm. As the practice became more established, they bought their farm in Little Meadows and eventually moved there. Doc’s love of farming and of the town brought him to get to know and befriend many of his neighbors. He often remarked that the best place on earth was right there at home. Doc loved being a dentist and was committed to helping others even when it wasn’t convenient for him. He would often go into the office on weekends, late nights, and more than one Christmas to treat someone in pain – patient or not. He was more than just a dentist to many of his patients and a father figure to those with whom he worked side by side. He will be remembered for his remarkable kindness, his generosity towards others, his positivity towards life, and his love for ice cream sandwiches. He will be dearly missed by his family, his friends, and his community.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday 10 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville, PA. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Friendsville, PA. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Friday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to: Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott “A Home for the Terminally Ill” www.mercyhousesoutherntier.com. The family would like to thank the physicians and nursing staff at Lourdes Hospital for their care and kindness to our father and family.
