Robert "Rob" Neuberger

February 18, 1959 — March 7, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Neuberger, who lost his courageous battle with cancer. Robert, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, left behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to his community.
Born to Rosalie and Joseph Neuberger in Queens, NY, he is now reunited with his beloved parents in peace. Rob is survived by his loving wife, Shari, son Jeff, daughter Laura, her husband Dan and their children Olivia (7) and Natalie (5), and stepdaughters Shayna and Becky, her husband Danny and their children Amelia (13), Josiah (11), and Abigail (9). He was a proud and adoring grandfather to his grandchildren. Rob is also survived by his beloved sister Randye, her husband Mark, their sons Boruch, Joel, and Steven, and their families.
Rob grew up in East Meadow, Long Island. He attended Nassau Community College before coming to SUNY Binghamton to complete his bachelor’s degree in chemistry. During a post-college summer internship at IBM, he was asked to stay on and spent 22 years learning and growing there, taking on challenging assignments and building relationships. Some of the best years of his career were on special assignments that allowed him to explore the world, including skiing the Alps and camping in the shadow of Half Dome at Yosemite. As a quality engineer, he moved from IBM to EIT, Amphenol Corp, and finally Pall Trinity. He was liked and respected throughout his career, and his influence will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Rob was a man of great strength and compassion, dedicating much of his life to service, especially within the Jewish community. He served on numerous boards, including as president of Temple Concord for several years and chairman of The Reporter for 20 years, contributing his time, energy, and resources. As a lifelong photographer and photojournalist, his favorite gig was being called on to capture events at Temple and the JCC.
He loved being out in nature; from biking, hiking, and skiing, to playing with the grandkids in the backyard. He was a talented woodworker, and over the years he crafted beautiful pieces for his home and as treasured gifts for his loved ones. Rob was a fan of Islanders Hockey since their inception (though he would cheer on any NY team).
Rob was kind, loving, and curious, always asking questions and really listening to the answers. He was always ready to lend an ear for support, a true team player and mentor to his team.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. Yalamanchili, Kim Merrill, NP-C, and all the staff at Broome Oncology, Dr. Imtiaz, Dr. Marhaba, and Dr. Ahmed and the countless doctors, nurses, aides, and staff at UHS Wilson who walked us through this journey with compassion, care, and humor.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 2 pm at Temple Concord. The family will be sitting shiva at the family residence Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm, with a shiva minyan at 7:30, and Wednesday-Friday afternoons from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TheReporterGroup.org or the American Cancer Society, which were dear to Rob’s heart.
Throughout his life, Robert exemplified generosity, integrity, and dedication, both to his family and to his community. He will be remembered for the love and warmth he shared with everyone he met. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
