Robert (Bob) L. Scott, 54, of Endicott, NY passed into peaceful eternity on January 24, 2014, after a 16 year valiant battle with a rare type of cancer named GIST. Bob was born to the late Glenn (Mort) and Marilyn Scott (Latham) on December 11, 1959. He was predeceased by a special aunt and uncle, Don and Janice Natoli. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 33 years, Karen (Tredo) Scott, son and daughter-in law Jamie and Meredith Scott of Endicott, daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Weston Williams of Big Rock, TN, and his three adoring grandchildren Wyatt Rowdy, Maggie Marie and Nolan Robert. Also, brother and sister-in-law David and Suzanne Scott of Endicott, sister Peg Lee of Armonk, NY, sister and brother-in law Barbara and David Menigoz of Vestal, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Howard Vallequette of Endwell, step father Ronald Latham of Ft Meyers, FL, a very special father and mother-in-law Lyle and Patty Tredo of Smithville Flats, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law Mark and Laurie Tredo of Endwell, Paul and Marcy Tredo of Greene, NY, Jeff and Melissa Tredo of Alden, NY, Greg and Kandy Tredo of Apalachin, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from Union-Endicott HS class of 1978. Former employee of IBM and Cornell University where he made many friends over the years. He had a heart of gold and touched the lives of many people with his kindness and desire to help others by volunteering at Meals on Wheels, Mom’s House, A Room to Heal, West Corners Deb Stars, and Union Aquatic Swim Club (UNAC). He was a family man in the true sense and always put them first in everything he did. He enjoyed hunting with the guys, fishing, woodworking and spending time at his favorite place in the world, Cincinnatus Lake. Throughout his illness Bob was fortunate to have been able to travel to some of the best hospitals in the country. The support of his family and friends made this possible. He inspired so many people with his courage, strength, and sense of humor that never left him during this lengthy battle. Doctors often referred to him as a “warrior”. His endurance through this will continue to help others fighting cancer. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Dr. Susan Choi, Dr. Joseph Readling, Dr. Michael Barrett, and the nurses of 1 Ross for their compassionate care and guidance given to Bob. An additional thank you to ICS Solutions Group for all of their support over the last 6 years.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, January 31st at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends at church from 1to 4 pm, followed by at Mass at 4 pm. In Iieu of please consider a donation to the Bob Scott Memorial Fund”, established to help others in their fight against cancer, or to a charity of one’s choice. Bob, thanks for all the laughs and memories. Your example has left us all wanting to be better people. We were so blessed to have you in our lives and the world is truly a better place because of you. “And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
