Robert Smith

Robert A. Smith, 90, of Vestal passed away at home on November 15, 2017. He was predeceased by his father H. William Smith, his mother Jean Smith, his brother Ray Smith and his brother Doug Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Smith, his sister Natalie Smith of Melbourne, FL, his son David Smith and his wife Nancy Smith of Endicott, his daughter Diane Mancini and her husband Marc Mancini of Horseheads, his son Jeffrey Smith of Vestal, his nephew Steven Smith and his nephew Rob Smith and several grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was a physical education teacher in the Union Endicott School District for 29 years, where he also coached swimming and soccer. He was a member of the YMCA for over 50 years. Upon retirement in 1989, he traveled the country with his wife, including 20 years of winters in Mesa, Arizona. He was an avid bike rider, right up through this November. He graduated from Syracuse University, and was a huge sports fan. He loved Syracuse football and basketball, and any team that was playing the Yankees.
