While in the Navy, he served in both the South Pacific and Atlantic theaters as a chief petty officer. Following his discharge, he worked at the Endicott Boys Club to support his growing family. Later, he was hired by IBM as an accountant where he eventually became a member of the Quarter Century Club. Bob also moonlighted at several barber shops in the area. He was a devout Catholic and a member of the Holy Name Society at Christ the King Church as well as belonging to the Knights of Columbus. One of the things he was most proud of was his volunteer efforts at St. Mary’s Home (present day Seton Catholic Central HS) where he acted as barber and positive male role model. In his, “spare time” he managed to build the family home in Endwell. He was an avid golfer, golf club maker and strong fan of the PGA tour. He enjoyed working on the putting green with his grandchildren and could regularly be seen at many of their sporting events.
