Roger H. Holmes – 63 passed on Wednesday May 25, 2022, with his wife by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert & Jean Holmes, brother, Jesse (Jake) Holmes. Mother-in-law Marcella (John) Monico, father-in-law, Gerald Paradysz, brothers-in-law; Edward and Gerald (Jerry) Paradysz and a sister-in-law; Deborah Ingraham. He was also predeceased by three nephews.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Shirley; sister, Sharon (Russ) Reid, brothers, Gary (Emma) Holmes and Michael (Sheila) Holmes. Brother-in-law, Richard Ingraham, and sisters-in-law; Christine (John) Varvaro, Tina Paradysz and Paige Holmes. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Uncle RaRa adored and will be missed by two great nephews - Kaiden and Quinten.
Roger and Shirley always have a house full of pampered pets and three fur babies survive him - Stryder, JT and Jethro.
Roger was a 1976 graduate of Union Endicott High School. He attended Alfred University and SUNY ESF Ranger School where he received a degree in Forestry.
He was a licensed Land Surveyor and became a partner - then sole owner of Southern Tier Land Surveying. After the sale of his business, he was employed by Delta Engineering, Architects and Land Surveyors.
A lifelong water enthusiast - Roger was a Red Cross certified lifeguard and swim instructor. While employed by the Endicott Boys & Girls Club he taught children to swim for several years. He earned many PADI certifications including master scuba diver and dedicated time helping students at Binghamton University obtain their scuba diving certification. He enjoyed the challenge of diving ship wreaks in the St. Lawrence Seaway and cherished trips scuba diving with his wife on the reefs around the Caribbean Islands.
Another favorite activity was golf - which he enjoyed for many years with his wife, family, and friends.
Funeral Services will be Friday 11:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 10 am until service time at 11:30 am.
