Ronald Bichler

d. June 9, 2023

Ronald Lloyd Bichler, 87, of Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023. He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Margaret (Lloyd) Bichler and sister Mariam (Bichler) McDonough. He is survived by his sister Linda (Bichler) Keene of Taylor, PA. Ron is survived by his wife Sandra (Yacos) of 60 years; his four children Linda (Steven) Niggemann of Vestal, NY, Ron (Laura) Bichler of Clark’s Summit, PA, Karen (Gary) Walker of Endicott, NY and Raeleen Bichler of Binghamton, NY. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Christian, Ian, Emily, Jasmine and Austin were all so loved by their “grampy”. Ron had a special place in his heart for his niece Jennifer Keene of Marina Del Rey, CA. As Ron loved to say, “I was born and drug up” in Taylor, PA on April 15, 1936. He worked his entire career at General Electric, first in Schenectady, then moved to Johnson City in the late 1950’s. it was here that he met his beloved Sandie. Along the way he met Fred Basmajian with whom he shared a 40 year friendship. Ron was a life-long Philadelphia Eagles fan, which he admitted was not an easy feat in New York. During baseball season, he was an avid NY Mets fan, which he shared with his son and grandsons. Ron was a member at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church where his cousin William Davies was Minister. Later in life he transferred his membership to Central United Methodist Church where he loved to hear his youngest daughter Raeleen play the cello. The family give heartfelt thanks to the NT4 Wilson nursing staff for the care they showed our dad/grampy, as well as the nurses, aides, and therapists at Vestal Park both in rehabilitation and memory care. The compassion shown to dad touched our hearts. We also give special thanks to Tiffany who referred to Ron as her “work grandpa”.
Funeral service will be held at Central United Methodist Church in Endicott, NY on Saturday, June 17, 2023. The family will receive friends at 9:00am with the funeral beginning at 11:00.
