Ronnie J. Guarnieri, 80, of Endicott, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his daughter Maureen’s home. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rose Guarnieri. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, MaryAnn (Coyle) Guarnieri, his children Rita and Ray Meattey, Ronnie and Tina Guarnieri, Maureen and Jeff Adams and Michael Guarnieri. He is survived by grandchildren, Joseph and Christopher Meattey, Nicholas and Samantha Adams and Shelby Guarnieri, his brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Donna Guarnieri; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Peggy Coyle, sister-in-law, Angela Coyle and his aunt, Gracie Amorese. In addition, he is survived by cousins and a number of lifelong friends. He will also be missed by his frustrating, but loveable canine companion Foxy. Ron served his country in the United States Marine Corp, in the strenuous position of pay clerk in Hawaii (Ooh Rah). He then went on to become a Village of Endicott fireman for 30 years. He also followed in his father’s footsteps working as a bricklayer. Ron worked tirelessly to support his family. He was a member of the Elks #1977, American Legion #1700, Northside Senior Citizens Club and the Sons of Italy, Endicott. He enjoyed the time MaryAnn and he spent fishing and boating at Cayuga Lake and the sunshine in Florida. His favorite activities included spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow and seeing their accomplishments and most recently making poochies with his son Mike at JB’s. Ron will be remembered as a genuinely nice guy who was much loved by his family and friends who will miss those blue eyes, bright smile and gorgeous white hair.
Family will receive friends at St. Ambrose Church 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott, on Friday from 1-3 pm, followed by a Funeral Mass at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue Endicott, NY 13760, or charity of your choice.
