Rosemarie Haas

d. January 21, 2024

Rosemarie Anne (Suscello) Haas, 92, of Endicott, NY, peacefully passed away on January 21, 2024, at Binghamton General Hospital. Rosemarie was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Warren, her parents Carmello and Barbara (Tozzolino) Suscello, her in-laws Frederick and Bernardine (Szantner) Haas, her brother Michael and sister-in-law Agnes Suscello, her brother Joseph and sister-in-law Gloria Suscella. She is survived by her children Bernardine (Joe) Armstrong, Francis (Diane) Haas, Michael (Catherine) Haas, Christine (Nick) Bade, Barbara Ann (Frank) Vassallo, her brother-in-law Frederick Haas, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren; Joey and Patty Armstrong, Jessica and Bill DeMartine, Joshua Armstrong , Jeremy and Sally Armstrong, John Armstrong, Mac and Beth Haas, Sam and Nikki Haas, Valerie and John Garcia, Katherine and David Pompeani, Brian and Jessica Haas and Frank Vassallo. She was a loving great grandmother to 20 great grandchildren.
Rosemarie was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 5, 1931, and moved to New London CT when she was 5. She graduated from Williams Memorial Institute and is believed to be the last surviving member of her class. Her first job was as the assistant to the President of the local Coca-Cola bottling company. It was there she met Warren Haas, who did business with Coca-Cola. They were married June 5, 1954, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in New London, CT. The family relocated to Endicott, NY in 1969 where she lived in their family home for 54 years. She used her bookkeeping skills for WEBO radio (her husband’s business) and HLA (her son Michael’s business).
Rosemarie was proud of family, her Italian roots, her Catholic faith and was the ultimate example of humility, selflessness, and love, raising her children with a strong moral code, faith, and sense of family. She was very supportive of her children’s and grandchildren’s education, accomplishments, and achievements. She volunteered for school events and always made sure her children were well dressed and prepared. She made great lunches, award-winning pumpkins, and attended sporting events. She was an avid gardener and great cook. Our Mom cherished her visits, phone conversations, Face Timing with her family, near and far, keeping a calendar with well over 140 dates for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions acknowledging many with cards and letters.
An independent soul with a great sense of humor and quick wit, she loved the serenity of her home and the beauty of nature surrounding her. When illness visited her this past fall, she was cared for at Good Shepherd Fairview home, where she was loved by all who cared for her. Being strong willed she worked very hard to get well but slipped quietly in her sleep into her eternal reward. The family is grateful for the loving care our mother received from Angel’s Helping Hands, Good Shepherd Fairview Rehab, UHS hospitals, especially the Palliative Care Unit, all the volunteers of Meals on Wheels of Western Broome County, and neighbors Laura and Joe Vaglicia.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott. Family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be at Riverhurst Cemetery in Endwell, NY. Flowers can be ordered through Angeline’s Florist, Washington Ave, Endicott.
