Rosemary Ann Gillard, 84, of Vestal, NY, formerly of Fulton, NY, died peacefully on March 4, 2014. Rosemary was born August 18, 1929, in Fulton, NY, the daughter of Edward and Marguerite Walsh. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal where she served on various committees and as a Eucharistic minister. Rosemary was a graduate of Oswego State University and was instrumental in establishing a successful Pre-Kindergarten program. Rosemary is a retired employee of 24 years in the Vestal Central School System where she taught her students a love for learning. In 1954, she married John W. (Jack) Gillard Jr. and enjoyed 42 happy years together. In addition to raising their five children, she also enjoyed music, singing with the Sweet Adelines barbershop group, singing with the Binghamton University Chorus, singing in a quartet with her daughters, and singing at home with her family and playing piano. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Maureen and Gary Kaschak of Berlin, NJ, Patrick J. and Rebecca Gillard of Ridgefield, CT, Anne and Michael Loso of Harrisonburg, VA, Karen Werner of Bloomington, IN and Paul E. and Carol Gillard of Bloomington, IN; 14 grandchildren, Sean (Erin), Caitlin, Kara, Kevin, Drew (Hilary), Megan, Emily, Logan, Dan, Morgan, Annie, Jack, Cameron, and Griffin; one great-grandson, Aedan; a brother-in-law, Richard and Johanne Gillard, Dansville, NY; brother-in-law, Jerry Doull and sister-in-law, Emma Walsh, Fulton, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be welcomed for visitation at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY Friday, March 7, 2014, from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, March 8th, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal at 11 am. Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Gillard’s memory may be made to the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 282 Riverside Drive, Johnson City, NY 13790. There will be a graveside service for family members at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal.
