On Thursday, May 11, a memorial service for Ruth Elizabeth (Williams) McAdon will be held at 11 AM at Endwell United Methodist Church, 3301 Watson Blvd., Endwell. Ruth, 88, was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Michael McAdon, sister, Margaret Ferguson, and granddaughter, Amy. She is survived by a daughter, Susan, two sons, John (Janet) and Mark (Eva), and seven grandchildren. Ruth and Tom met at Iowa State University, Ames, IA., where she was active in Sigma Kappa, the Home Economics Club, YWCA and the Women’s Athletic Association. After graduation, Ruth worked at the Cleveland Clinic in the hospital lab as a registered dietician, and she completed classes toward an Ohio teaching certificate at John Carroll University. After moving to Endwell in 1957, she was an active member of the Endwell United Methodist Church, the Broome County West Senior Center, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the ARC, and scouting. She thrived on a good challenge: “It’s like waving a red flag in front of a bull. It can’t be done? I can do it!” Ruth enjoyed vacation trips, exchanging letters, Facebook, and spending time with family and friends, especially at backyard picnics with hand-churned ice cream. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to ACHIEVE (formerly Broome-Tioga ARC; achieveny.org), 47 Riverside Dr., Johnson City, NY.
