Sherry Underwood

Sherry C. Underwood, a lifetime resident of Endicott, NY; sadly passed away at Lourdes/Guthrie Memorial Hospital on Monday, February 26th, 2024 due to complications of a lengthy illness. Sherry was 76 years of age.

Sherry was predeceased by her parents, Erwin and Sarah Underwood, brothers Douglas and Terry Underwood, nephews James Paul and Jordan Underwood and Dennis Soule.

Sherry is survived by her brother, Jerry Underwood and sister-in-law Teresa, nieces and nephews; Janice Soule, Sandy Soule, Michael (Sharon) Soule, Terry (Maria) Underwood, Thomas (Sue) Underwood, Heather (Jerry) Belanger, Neil (Linda) Underwood, Peter Underwood, Leigh (David) Brockmann, Matthew (Jennifer) Underwood, Michael (Lisa) Underwood, Alicia (Gregory) Moraitis and Adam Underwood. Numerous cousins from the McDermott’s, Minnette’s, Fords, Frews and Walters families.

In Endicott, Sherry was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Ambrose elementary school. She graduated from Seton Catholic High School, and completed secretarial studies at Ridley’s School of Business, Binghamton, NY and attended Keystone Junior College. She was employed by IBM and Lockheed Martin for 40 years successfully achieving the title of managing secretary.

Sherry’s most valued times were spent hosting family reunions at “The Lake”, get-togethers during holidays, special occasions and any event which brought peace, joy and true happiness. Sherry always put others first; whether it was a phone call, greeting cards, a recipient of one of her ‘care packages’, or a welcomed visit. Her generosity and uniqueness was immeasurable. Sherry’s love of Christ was emulated in her utmost love for others.

Sherry enjoyed sharing recipes, reading, playing cards, domino’s, board games, bird watching and decorating. She loved humor and making people laugh. She spoke freely and you always knew what she meant.

Sherry will be sorely missed but never forgotten. We are all blessed to have another Guardian Angel watching over us in heaven.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday March 11th at 11 am, at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends Monday at church from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
