Shirley Williams

Shirley J. Williams, 91, of Apalachin, NY passed away unexpectedly on January 10th at UHS Wilson Hospital. She was born in August 1931 in Scranton, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of Richard and Marion Hiorns. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifton Williams Sr. and daughter-in-law, Suzan Williams. She is survived by her children, Clifton Williams Jr. (Melissa), David Williams and Nancy (Jack) Ducanis; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Anna) Williams, Joshua (Kara) Williams, Kristin Ducanis and Courtney Ducanis; great grandchildren, Harrison Williams, Gabriel Williams and Aria Williams; brother-in-law, Robert Williams and sister-in-law Linda Williams; as well as several nieces, nephews and her special friend Barbara Wolford. Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Vestal High School where she relished her participation in planning and attending her high school reunions. She was a former employee of IBM Owego for many years. Shirley was a member of Park Terrace United Methodist Church and was the Church’s last surviving charter member. Shirley participated in many volunteer activities at the Church and also served as a litergist and member of the choir. Most importantly were the cherished friendships she made at the Church which eventually led to her hosting in home Bible study classes. Shirley loved her trips to Lancaster, Pennsylvania where she enjoyed the quaintness of the Amish Country and her love of quilting. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Campus and JGJ Nursing Home Unit 2 for their kind and compassionate care for Shirley during her stay. Shirley was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Funeral Services for Shirley will be held on Monday, January 16 at 11 AM at Park Terrace United Methodist Church, 30 Glann Road, Apalachin. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends on Monday at Church from 10 AM until Service time at 11 AM.
