Stella Struckus

Stella Maria (Vlasak) Struckus, 99, of Endicott, passed away on January 9, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Edward J. Struckus, on June 26, 2006. She is survived by two sons, Randal L. Struckus, and his long-time companion, Laurie Guptill, of Millbury MA; Gregory V. Struckus, of Bridgewater, NJ, and by her two grandchildren, Matthew and Olivia, of Bridgewater, NJ. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Victoria Augustine, of Worcester, MA.
She was born on Christmas Day, 1921, on a farm in the Town of Union, daughter of the late Katherine and Paul Vlasak. Her siblings, Col. Frank Vlasak, Steve Vlasak, Ann E. Haynes, and Paul Vlasak predeceased her. She was a founding member of St. Joseph’s Church in Endicott, a parish which her parents helped to establish, and the sod laid upon the grounds of the church when it was built came from her family’s farm. She graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1941 and was employed by IBM Endicott for 20 years, retiring in 1962 in order to raise a family. She was also active in the former Johnson City Garden Club, and the former Greater Endicott Business & Professional Women’s Club, and she used to do volunteer work at the former Ideal Hospital in Endicott.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 11 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY, allenmemorial.com. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one’s choice.Appropriate precautions are being taken for public health concerns, including masks, social distancing, and managing the number of visitors at one time.
