Stephen Schmitt

Stephen Richard Schmitt 69, of Endicott passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022 at the Mercy House surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents Betty and Charlie Schmitt of Elmira, New York. He is also preceded in death by his brother David Kinkade. Stephen was blessed with his in-laws Gary and Nancy Slater of Endicott NY who also preceded him in death.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife Terri and special nephew Dylan Shea, sisters Laurie Scott, Merry Rutter, Linda Hester, brothers Chuck Schmitt and, William Schmitt. Stephen is also blessed with many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stephen grew up in Elmira and graduated from Southside High School in 1971. Stephen retired in 2021 and enjoyed his time at Lake Bonin and his many lake friends.

Stephen will forever be remembered for his special grin and dimple and great one liners. Stephen was also a proud pet dad to Gertie and Stella.

A celebration of life will be held at Kelly’s Sports Bar, 102 N. Page Ave., Endicott, NY, on July 17, 2022, beginning at 3 PM with food and cash bar.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mercy House and Lourdes Hospital for the exceptional care and love given to Stephen during his stay.
